Description

Get prepared for the biggest, most D.C. Halloween costume party ever!

Event Details

For the first time in over 30+ years, the Historic Congressional Cemetery is opening its doors to the public for a Halloween costume party. We'll have an open bar, music, dancing, and a few unexpected surprises! Better yet, your ticket includes an automatic donation to the Association for the Preservation of the Historic Congressional Cemetery, and all profits from this event go directly to the Association.

ABOUT THE CONGRESSIONAL CEMETERY

The Historic Congressional Cemetery contains the remains of some of the nation’s most respected leaders, luminaries, and activists. From the time of its establishment in 1807 until the end of the Civil War, seventy-five Senators and Representatives, as well as 10 former mayors of Washington and many high-ranking executive, judicial and military officers were interred at Congressional Cemetery. Because of this, some see it as the first true national cemetery in the United States.

The Historic Congressional Cemetery is also famous for allowing dog walking on their premises, as well as hosting fun events like the Dead Man's Run and various movie/yoga events throughout the year.

FAMOUS RESIDENTS INCLUDE:

- D.C. Mayor Marion Barry
- FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover
- "A Gay WW2 Veteran" - F. Warren O'Reilly, Ph.D
- Attorney Belva Ann Lockwood
- Native American (Choctaw) Chief Pushmataha
- Composer John Philip Sousa

IMPORTANT PARTY RULES

The Historic Congressional Cemetery is an extremely important national landmark that has graciously opened its doors for this party. As such, rules for your attendance apply:

- Please be respectful. Please come to party and enjoy yourself, but treat the property and all staff with the respect they deserve!
