Event Details

Learn the basics of the Laban/Bartenieff Movement System (LBMS) and explore its applications to theatre, dance, visual arts and creative writing.
Taught by Cat Maguire with Esther Geiger
LBMS offers an understanding of human movement rooted in identifying major patterns and themes (the macro view), as well as delving into details of the components of movement (micro).
In this experiential movement workshop, we'll:

Investigate big ideas that organize human movement, including Developmental Patterns, Thematic Dualities and Phrasing

Elaborate on the components of movement: Body, Shape, Space and Effort

Explore ways to apply these patterns and components to creative endeavors, including performing, writing, directing, choreography and visual art making.

No prior experience with LBMS is necessary. The workshop is appropriate for all curious arts makers and doers!
Workshop Fee:
$35 "Early Mover" discount - if you register by September 12!
$45 for those who register between September 13 and October 11
$50 day-of fee at the door (cash or check only)
