Daughter & Mother Camp Congress for Girls DC 2018

Celebrate Mother's Day 2018 with us at our Daughter and Mother Camp Congress for Girls DC 2018. Daughter and Mother Camp Congress for Girls DC 2018 is a leadership program that introduces girls ages 8 to 15 and their moms (or dads) to politics. Camp begins with a lesson on the structure of our political system. Each girl will choose to run for a seat in the US House of Representatives, the US Senate or for the presidency. Each mom will serve as her daughter's campaign manager. Together, daughter and mother will create a political campaign with a platform, campaign slogan, campaign finance plan, campaign marketing materials and a political ad for television. All campers and moms will register to vote and then vote in an election. Once elected to Congress and sworn in, the newly installed members of Congress will learn how to introduce a bill, debate the merits of the bill, lobby fellow legislators, collaborate with the Executive branch and finally vote on the proposed bill. Moms will serve as House, Senate and White House aides assisting daughters in their work. Camp will culminate with a ceremonial signing of the bill by our Ms. President.

Girl Scouts participating in Daughter and Mother Camp Congress for Girls DC will earn a Citizen Legacy Badge upon completion of the program. All participants will earn a Certificate of Completion for participation. The camp day runs from 8am to 5pm. The camp fee includes snacks and all supplies for camp activities. Lunch will be provided for campers and moms. No refunds will be given for camp registration fees unless the organizer cancels the session. The camp general registration fee is $260, the Girl Scout registration fee is $220, the Military registration fee is $220 and the group registration fee is $220. The ticket covers one parent and one child. Another child may be added by purchasing the additional participant option.
