Description

The name "Rasika" is derived from Sanskrit language meaning "flavors". Rasika West End, which opened in March 2012, is the new sister restaurant to Rasika, the award-winning modern Indian restaurant owned by Ashok Bajaj. Bajaj was recently named by both Washingtonian and Washington City Paper as "Restaurateur of the Year" and nationally, he is a three-time James Beard Foundation nominee for "Restaurateur of the Year". This exciting newcomer's decor is created by James Beard Foundation's award- winning restaurant designer Martin Vahtra of Projects Design Associates of New York. Rasika West End showcases both modern and authentic Indian fare, prepared on the Tawa (griddle), Sigri (open barbeque), as well as Tandoori and regional dishes. The restaurant also has an international wine list designed to pair well with Indian fare. This sophisticated new hot spot is also known for its innovative cocktails, ideal for savoring with small plates in the restaurant's spacious lounge. A contemporary décor sporting jewel tones, striking Indian art, and the combination of dark and light woods sets off this dynamic space. The major focal point is the eye-catching ceiling, created to resemble a banyan tree a nod to its important role in Indian culture. All of our staff looks forward to welcoming you at Rasika.
