New Years Eve in the Garden of Earthly Delights
To celebrate New Years Eve, the Gibson is hosting an exclusive, open bar party themed after the content of Heironymous Bosch's famous Garden of Earthly Delights.
The painting is a three part depiction of the downfall of humanity from Edenic paradise through sinful frollicking into a torturous wasteland. The striking piece contains elaborate and vivid depictions of the different states that have captivated viewers for centuries.
For the evening, the Gibson will be split into three spaces themed after different parts of the painting. Decorations, props, drinks, food, and other ambiance effects will draw from the motiffs of each panel of the painting.

Three different bars
Paradise Parlor - The upstairs parlor is to be reimagined as the Edenic paradise from the painting. Drinks and food will be light and sweet, with floral arrangements and softer set pieces for a more relaxed setting.
Lounge of Sin - The low-lit lounge will be presented as the middle part of the painting depicting Eden transformed into the titular garden. Drinks and food will be spicier, set pieces racier, and the space arranged for more of a dance party.
Terrace of Hell - The covered, black-brick patio will depict the final part of the painting, the collapse of sin into a nightmarish wasteland of agony. Our covered patio features firepits and space heaters towards that aesthetic, and will include food dishes like jerked chicken and a punch bar.

A different way to dress up for New Years
Guests are encouraged to come in theme appropriate costume. The painting is quite visceral, and there are many ways to play with the concept. We'll be posting and emailing tips and suggestions, but in addition to costumes taken directly from the painting, anything generally surrealist or masquerade would be in theme.
