The instrumentation drives speedily forward while remaining palpable, the goal being to capture some of the bands live energy in moments. The genre bends but remains in the realm of hard hitting drums, loud guitars, and impassioned vocals. The songs move through themes of connection, longing, and choice — faced with the whirlwind.
Their fiery live performance brought them to corners across America and Europe, touring with the likes of Prawn, Field Mouse, and Moving Mountains. The band resides these days in Ridgewood, Queens, creating music, always pointed towards the unattainable.

Googling Wet Leather reveals a few things—the band’s un-manicured internet presence, their earnestness, and the jarring dissonance between their image and their outsized band name. Over the course of their young career Wet Leather has welcomed that dissonance, singing songs about anxiety and insecurity with the swagger of their 80s idols. Their ambiguous relationship with their obvious influences— Talking Heads, Prince, Tears For Fears —has proven beguiling for fans, perhaps because Wet Leather refuses to wink at their audience while delivering a huge, heartfelt, hook.The songs on their new EP, Present Lives, are populated with young people who feel like impostors in their own lives.
