George Clinton, Nona hendryx, and Vernon Reid will be joined in Studio K at the #KenCenREACH by world-renowned scholar and critic Alondra Nelson for an hour-long exploration of Afrofuturism—where it came from, where it is going, and what it has to offer us. Opening remarks by Dr. Gus Casely-Hayford, Director of the National Museum of African Art, Smithsonian Institution. The discussion will be followed by a sonic exploration of Afrofuturism in the Skylight Pavilion featuring DJs Adrian Loving and John Murph.

This event is part of the Smithsonian Institution’s 2019 Year of Music programming. It is co-organized by the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum, National Museum of African American History and Culture, and National Museum of African Art.
