Description

Join us on the eve of Hanukkah for latkes and learning! Hanukkah, also known as the festival of lights, is an eight-day festival beginning at sundown on Sunday, December 22.

Event Details

During Hanukkah it is traditional to eat fried foods because of the significance of oil to the holiday. This usually includes latkes or “potato pancakes.” Our very own Chef Todd Gray’s unique latke recipe has been featured in many publications, including The New York Times and Vogue. We invite you to join Chef Todd and Rabbi Shmuel Herzfeld of Ohev Shalom - The National Synagogue for an evening of latkes and learning! This class will teach you the fundamentals of making latkes, along with all the traditional accompaniments — and some that are not so traditional. You will also hear about the historical beginnings of this humble potato treat and all that it symbolizes to the Jewish community.

For dessert, Manna’s Pastry Chef Brandi Eddinger will join us to demonstrate another tasty tradition of Hanukkah - Sofgonyot, the jelly donut that celebrates the Hanukkah miracle!
