Aretha Franklin was a legendary performer with a show-stopping voice and empowering songs. But her role as an activist offstage was equally remarkable.
The Goethe-Institut Washington, WPFW-FM, and the DC Public Library invite you to a dialogue and listening session revolving around Aretha Franklin's work as a social and political activist. Join historians, musicians, and community members for an evening focusing on the social justice work of Aretha Franklin. We'll consider her experience in the past and reflect on what musical activism looks like today. The conversation will be in English, moderated by Katea Stitt from WPFW.
